Yesterday, Oracle and Microsoft created a whole new meaning for multicloud by announcing the general availability of Oracle Database Service for Microsoft Azure.
As an expert in Oracle and Microsoft multicloud services, we see this as a really exciting development for users of Oracle Cloud and Azure. Read our brief summary below to find out what it could mean for you.
What just happened?
This new offering means Microsoft Azure customers can now easily provision, access, and monitor enterprise-grade Oracle Database services in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Customers now have the option to use the best tools for their workloads, across different clouds, making their environment more streamlined, with better data storage and reporting, and an improved user experience.
This is a unique solution providing a streamlined experience for establishing low latency OCI-Azure connectivity, virtual networks, and federated identity management. Database queries and query results are also made possible through the Interconnect. Database logs and metrics from OCI are integrated into Azure to simplify monitoring and management.
This is very exciting news for cloud as a whole, unlocking many new opportunities for customers on Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud.
