E-Business Suite Support Timeline – What does it mean?

Last year we saw the release of E-Business Suite 12.2 which came with a host of new features and enhancements which can be seen in our previous blog about EBS R12.

With this release came updated support timelines from Oracle. The most important factor of updated timelines is the end of support for EBS The extended support finished in November 2013; however EBS is covered by an ‘Exception to Sustaining Support’ up until December 31, 2015.

So what does this ‘Exception to Sustaining Support’ mean?

Well Exception to Sustaining Support will only provide updates for the following:

- New fixes for Severity 1 productions issues
- Critical Patch updates for security related issues
- Legislative updates
o Payroll updates for the fiscal year ending in 2014

This means that Oracle will only provide an update if they deem the problem to be severe enough or the security of the EBS is at risk. Furthermore once the 2014 fiscal year has ended there will be no further legislative updates.

If your EBS suffers from an issue that isn’t a Severity 1, Oracle will not provide an update leaving the business applications at risk. Also once the 2014 fiscal year has ended you could be breaking legislations within your area which could have major repercussions on your Business.

To avoid any risk or repercussions an EBS upgrade is highly recommended giving your EBS Oracle Premier Support. We all know how lengthy and complicated an EBS upgrade can be and if you have not already started planning yours now is really the right time.
